Lençóis Maranhenses National Park sits 260 km from São Luís and is regarded as one of the most spectacular landscapes in Brazil. White sand dunes interlaced with crystal clear lagoons create scenery that shifts with every season.

As a local Lençóis photographer, Edy knows the park from the inside: which lagoon in Santo Amaro holds the bluest water, which corners of Atins stay quiet near the mouth of the Preguiças, and the spot on the Barreirinhas dunes where golden hour delivers its best frames.

Santo Amaro, June 2025Mariana and Robson flew from São Paulo to live a day in the dunes.
When Mariana first wrote to me, she said she had always dreamed of photos on white sand dunes. Robson wanted to surprise her with something she would never forget. They flew from São Paulo to São Luís without knowing anyone in the region.
We arranged to meet in Santo Amaro and drove together to the dunes. Along the way, we planned the best spots, outfit changes and the exact time for golden hour. When we arrived at the dunes and Mariana saw the lagoons for the first time, she cried before I even lifted my camera.

/How getting to the dunes works
I am your photographer, not a travel agency, and that is good news: every detail of the plan is designed for the photos. Entry to the dunes and lagoons is regulated and handled by 4x4 vehicles from licensed local tour operators, arranged and paid directly by you, at rates set by the region. That way you choose the best time and tour, and I meet you at the agreed spot to do the session, or I travel with you along the way when the transfer is longer, as in Barreirinhas and Atins, with my access included when you book the tour. In Santo Amaro there is only a small dune-access fee, of R$ 10; Barreirinhas and Atins have no fee. I guide you through everything in advance, with no surprises on the day.

In the Lençóis, you don't need to coordinate separate professionals. I lead the photography and the experience from start to finish, and Priscilla, by my side, guides makeup, hair, colors and looks. Two people, one single care for your image.
Priscilla Miranda
Makeup Artist and Image Consultant
Priscilla Miranda joins most of my sessions in Lençóis Maranhenses. She is a professional makeup artist with international experience, having worked with couples in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Cancún, Buenos Aires and Santiago.
Her work goes beyond makeup. Priscilla acts as the image consultant for the session: she helps choose looks, advises on colors and fabrics that work best on the dunes, plans every visual detail in advance and provides full support before and, on sessions with 4x4 access, during the session.
The makeup and hair are done at your pousada, before heading out to the dunes. In Santo Amaro and Barreirinhas, where access is by 4x4, she usually comes along for makeup touch-ups at every outfit change, in the same tour vehicle. In Atins, makeup and hair are finished at the pousada before the crossing. You don't need to look for a professional in the region or coordinate logistics: we arrange everything before the day.
Skin, eyes, lips and hair prepared with professional products that resist heat, wind and lagoon water. On sessions with 4x4 access, makeup touch-ups at every outfit change. The result shows in every photo.

How does access to the session locations work?
The internal transfer to the dunes and lagoons of Lençóis is done by 4x4 through accredited local tour operators and is arranged by the couple. That way you choose the best time and tour, and I meet you at the agreed spot to do the session, or I travel with you along the way when the transfer is longer, as in Barreirinhas and Atins, with my access included when you book the tour.
Do you help me plan the session?
Yes, in every package. Before the day, we have a video call to align the route, answer your questions and sort out the looks, and I point out the best light hours and curate the settings that best fit your story. You arrive at the session relaxed and confident.
We don't know how to pose, is that a problem?
Not at all, and it's actually better. Nobody arrives knowing how to pose. I guide the entire session with simple cues: where to look, how to walk, when to laugh. Natural movements, with no forced pose sequence, and within a few minutes you forget the camera. The most praised couples in my galleries are precisely the ones who arrived thinking they didn't know how to pose.
How long does it take to receive the photos?
Full delivery takes up to 10 business days, with every edited photo in your online gallery.
How does payment work?
I work with a 50% deposit to book the date and the remainder can be paid in up to 4 interest-free installments. I accept PIX, bank transfer and credit card.
Do you accept international payment?
Yes. Couples from outside Brazil pay with an international credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through a secure Stripe link, in two steps: 50% to reserve the date and 50% up to 1 day before the session. Prices are always in Brazilian reais (BRL), and your card automatically converts them to your currency at the day's exchange rate. I send the secure link over WhatsApp. The upfront PIX discount and the 4 interest-free installments are the conditions for domestic payment.
Do you charge extra for additional photos?
No. You receive ALL the edited photos from the session, at no extra cost. I average 200 or more photos per session, depending on coverage time. I do not work with limited photo packages.
Do the photos come retouched?
Every photo is edited individually, one by one: color in my natural style, light, exposure, contrast and white balance. It is exactly the editing you see on my Instagram. What changes the result the most from one session to another is the preparation: makeup, hair and looks planned for the light and the setting. That is why tips on looks and styling are included in every package, and makeup with Priscilla is available as an option. Skin retouching, removing stray hairs or objects and fixing closed eyes are not part of the standard editing; for that there is fine retouching on photos you choose and corrections on request, as add-ons. I never alter bodies, features or hair over the eyes, under any circumstances: the photo that ages well is the one in which you recognize yourself twenty years from now.
Do the packages include video?
The Essential and the Complete are photography packages. To have aerial videos of your session, there are three drone add-ons: 2 edited videos for R$ 700 or 4 videos for R$ 1.100, filmed by me during the session, and the dedicated crew production for R$ 1.800, in which a professional follows the entire session and you pick 3 edited videos, with the rest in the Aerial Collection. The VIP Photo & Video includes the full video experience, with an edited film of 1 to 2 minutes, drone videos and a video crew on the ground. In the dedicated crew production there are two of us on the session, myself and the drone professional, so it is worth sizing the tour for both seats, which in Atins become two extra quad bikes. Access for the crew is arranged by the client in any base, because entry to the park is only possible with accredited transport.
Can I have my wedding in Lençóis Maranhenses?
Yes! I photograph weddings, elopements and mini weddings on the dunes and lagoons, with the option of a film by the video team I direct. Officiant, decor and hair and makeup come from a network of local partners I recommend and you hire directly, and access to the dunes is arranged with licensed local operators, at the couple's expense.

Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is an environmental protection area covering more than 155,000 hectares on the eastern coast of Maranhão, Brazil. It is formed by white sand dunes interlaced with crystal clear freshwater lagoons that fill during the rainy season.
